get ready to rumble

raasay rumble photograph The Raasay Rumble is a technically demanding 10 hour enduro race. This means ten hours of sharp climbing, gripping descents and technical singletrack that weaves in and out of forestry and hugs the shore line. Total concentration is required at all times. We hope you'll want to nail it even harder on each subsequent lap you make. Local trail builder Steve White continues to maintain and develop his network of incredible, technical and challenging trails. We know that you'll be amazed by his Cutting Edge work.

Think big pumping climbs, think roots, tight singletrack and rock gardens. Everywhere.

The Prologue and Climbing Prime

The Raasay Rumble will begin with a mystery prologue lap, the Dun Caan summit defied us in 2007. That's all we can say for now other than to reiterate: don't pay too much attention to the scenery if you want to clean the climb.

the main race lap

Following the prologue lap, riders will rush out onto the southern loop into fabulous forestry singletrack, narrow into nano-trails and flow out and onto open shoreline. SPORTident tags will be worn by each rider. The combined time, including the prologue lap, will place you in the overall ranking. All riders returning before 20:00 (up to 19:59:59) will have made it in time to take the last lap that will be in dusk ... returning to a rapturous welcome, beer and music.

technical primes

In the forestry and on the north shore (as in by the sea shore) ... there are a number of natural obstacles to be cleaned - ride through with a natural flair and flowing panache and you'll be in the running for a technical Race Jersey, once again sponsored by Paul Hodgkiss Designs.

start time

The Raasay Rumble will set off at 10.00 and will wind up at 20.00. Sunset is approximately 19.30 so laps starting after 19.00 will have to be made with lighting. There is a positive in this, in that your fastest lap time made after 19.00 will count towards your night time trial sponsored by Exposure Lights.

prizes

The category winners will receive a trophy sculpted from local timbers by Scottish craftsmen working the second batch from a very special timber ... Category prizes will also be given by our wonderful sponsors; Skye Brewery, Alpine Bikes, USE/Exposure Lights, ISO Active, Minx Girl, The Ernest Press & Paul Hodgkiss Designs.
